Any information obtained during the course of this survey will be held in the strictest of confidence—we do not sell any personal contact information. Your name and other identifying information will be stored separately from the data files containing your responses. The data will be used for planning and research purposes only. The data released for planning and research purposes will be summarized to census tract and will not contain name or address information.

We want you to feel secure in providing candid responses to our questions. Your responses will be used only to make planning evaluations of transportation behavior of people living in the state. Your decision to participate is voluntary and greatly appreciated, and you may decline to answer any question.

The California Household Travel Survey collects information about how and where people travel across the state. We also ask questions about the people participating in the survey, as well as about the vehicles available for travel. Transportation planners use all of the information from the survey to plan for the future of the state's transportation options.
